Week 2 GHSA Football Rankings: Buford Holds No. 1 Spot in Class 7A

The Week 2 GHSA football rankings feature several undefeated teams across the state, with Buford remaining at the top of Class 7A after opening the season with a 1-0 record.

Carrollton sits at No. 2 in Class 7A with a 2-0 record, followed by McEachern and Newton, both of which are also 2-0. Lowndes rounds out the top five at No. 5 with a 2-0 record. North Gwinnett, Brookwood and Valdosta follow at Nos. 6 through 8, all entering Week 2 with 2-0 records. Westlake is No. 9 at 2-0, while North Cobb is No. 10 at 1-1.

In Class 6A, TCC is ranked No. 1 at 2-0, followed by Jackson County and Lee County, which are also undefeated at 2-0. Creekside and Gainesville are ranked fourth and fifth, respectively, despite both teams entering the rankings at 0-1. Woodward is No. 6 at 1-1, while Milton is No. 7 at 1-1. Hughes is eighth at 1-0, Sequoyah is ninth at 2-0 and Houston County rounds out the top 10 at 1-0.

Blessed Trinity leads Class 5A at No. 1 with a 2-0 record. Cartersville is second at 2-0, followed by North Oconee, Warner Robins and Tucker, all with 2-0 records. Marist is ranked sixth at 2-0, while Dalton is seventh at 2-0. Jefferson is No. 8 at 1-1, Lithonia is ninth at 1-0 and Benedictine is ranked 10th at 1-1.

Sandy Creek sits atop Class 4A at 2-0, with Stephenson ranked second at 2-0. Peach County is third, followed by Troup and Douglass Atlanta, with all three teams holding 2-0 records. Westover and Monroe Area are sixth and seventh, respectively, both at 2-0. Cairo is eighth at 1-0, while Calhoun and North Hall occupy the final two spots at 1-1.

Toombs County leads Class 3A at 2-0, followed by Morgan County and Pierce County, also 2-0. Crisp County is fourth at 1-0, while Worth County is fifth at 1-0. Rockmart and NE Macon are sixth and seventh at 1-1. Appling County is eighth at 1-0, followed by Carver Columbus and Miller Grove, both at 1-1.

Heard County holds the No. 1 ranking in Class 2A with a 2-0 record. Jeff Davis is second at 2-0, followed by Dublin and Bleckley County, both also 2-0. Bremen is fifth at 2-0, while Dodge County and Fitzgerald are sixth and seventh at 1-0. Berrien is eighth at 2-0, followed by Swainsboro and Screven County, both at 1-1.

Macon County is ranked No. 1 in Class 1A at 2-0, with Taylor County and Mitchell County following at Nos. 2 and 3, also with 2-0 records. Montgomery County is fourth at 2-0. Charlton County is fifth at 1-0-1, while Bowdon is sixth at 1-1. Treutlen is seventh at 1-0, followed by ECI and Lincoln County, both at 1-1. Johnson County rounds out the top 10 at 2-0.

In the Class 4A-2A Private rankings, GAC sits at No. 1 with a 2-0 record. Holy Innocents is second at 2-0, followed by Prince Ave and Calvary Day at Nos. 3 and 4, respectively. Mt. Vernon is fifth at 2-0, while Fellowship is sixth at 1-0. Christian Heritage is seventh at 2-0, followed by Savannah Christian at 1-1. Hebron Christian and Whitefield round out the rankings at Nos. 9 and 10, both with 1-1 records.

With the second week of the season underway, the rankings feature a strong group of undefeated teams across each classification, while several 1-1 teams remain in position to make a move as the season continues.
