No. 6 Texas Women’s Basketball got double-digit scoring from four players and smothered Northern Colorado from the opening tip, rolling to a 91-29 win on Saturday night at Moody Center in front of 9,306 fans. The victory moved the Longhorns to 2-0 on the young season and was Texas’ 46th straight win at Moody Center.
Madison Booker led the way with a record-breaking night. She finished with 30 points on 10-for-14 shooting from the field and added six assists and two steals. Along the way she moved into third place on the program’s all-time scoring list. Booker now has 2,023 career points, passing Clarissa Davis, who scored 2,008 from 1985-89, and she is only the fourth player in Texas history to reach 2,000. It was the 45th game of her career with 20 or more points and her third with 30 or more.
Texas’ freshmen also delivered. Addison Bjorn scored 13 points on 5-for-6 shooting and had a block. Brihanna Crittendon added 11 points on 5-for-7 shooting along with two steals. Breya Cunningham was the fourth Longhorn in double figures, going 4-for-5 from the field for 10 points with six rebounds, two steals and two blocks. That puts her at 946 career points.
The defense drove the night. Texas forced 32 turnovers and turned them into 33 points, and it forced five 5-second violations while committing only eight turnovers of its own. Bryanna Preston took three charges, and Zya Vann had two steals and two blocks. The Longhorns also scored 38 points off the bench and turned 11 offensive rebounds into 13 second-chance points.
Texas set the tone early. Vann, Jayda Clark and Cunningham all came up with steals in the first quarter, and with 5:37 left in the period Booker scored six straight points, reaching 2,000 career points at the free-throw line. The Longhorns kept going with a 10-0 run, eight of those points from Clark, and led 23-6 after one.
In the second quarter, Texas kept Northern Colorado scoreless until 4:36 remained in the half. The Longhorns scored 10 points during that stretch, and they forced seven turnovers in the quarter and turned them into nine points. The Bears managed only three points in the period, and Texas’ bench alone had outscored Northern Colorado 18-9 by halftime. Texas led 49-9 at the break.
Booker took over the third quarter, scoring 15 of Texas’ 23 points in the period and driving a 13-1 run over a span of 3:20. The Longhorns led 71-18 heading into the fourth.
Bjorn led Texas with five points in the final quarter, and the Longhorns closed the game on a 6-0 run, shooting 4-for-5 down the stretch. It was the ninth time in program history Texas has held an opponent under 30 points, and the first since a 57-26 win at Georgia on Feb. 24, 2025. Texas won 91-29.
The win improves the Longhorns’ all-time record at Moody Center to 71-5. Texas returns to Moody Center to host South Dakota State on Wednesday, Nov. 11, with tip-off set for 6 p.m. CT on SEC Network.
