Third-ranked Georgia put on a dominant offensive display in front of 93,033 fans at Sanford Stadium on Saturday, crushing Tennessee State 63-3 in a game that was effectively decided before halftime.
The Bulldogs scored on their first four possessions of the game, all touchdowns, to build a 28-0 lead by the end of the first quarter. Nate Frazier opened the scoring with a 48-yard touchdown run, then added a 14-yard scoring run on Georgia’s next drive. Quarterback Gunner Stockton then got involved through the air, throwing a 17-yard touchdown pass to Elyiss Williams and an 11-yard score to Talyn Taylor to cap the opening-quarter onslaught.
Georgia kept rolling in the second quarter, with Stockton finding Jaden Reddell for a 14-yard touchdown to make it 35-0. Tennessee State finally got on the board with a Preston Hurless 37-yard field goal, capping a 14-play, 55-yard drive, but that was the extent of the Tigers’ offense — Georgia took a commanding 35-3 lead into the break.
The third quarter brought more of the same. Frazier scored his third rushing touchdown of the day from 3 yards out, and backup quarterback Ryan Puglisi entered and threw a 16-yard touchdown pass to Kaiden Prothro, pushing the lead to 49-3.
Georgia’s offense showed no mercy in the fourth quarter either, with reserve quarterback Ryan Montgomery connecting with Jeremy Bell on a 54-yard touchdown pass, and Joe Lamar capping the scoring with an 11-yard touchdown run to make it 63-3.
The statistical disparity was enormous. Georgia outgained Tennessee State 660 yards to 109, with 272 rushing yards on just 27 carries (10.1 yards per attempt) compared to the Tigers’ 10 rushing yards on 32 attempts. Stockton was nearly perfect, completing 15 of 16 passes for 202 yards and three touchdowns, while Puglisi added 109 yards and a touchdown on 7-of-13 passing. Tennessee State, meanwhile, managed just 99 net passing yards on 15-of-26 passing with no touchdowns, and starting quarterback Daylin Lee was sacked once.
Georgia also dominated time of possession (28:27) despite running fewer offensive snaps, converted 4 of 6 third downs compared to Tennessee State’s 6-for-17, and scored touchdowns on 7 of 8 red zone trips. The Bulldogs’ defense recorded three sacks and 7.0 tackles for loss while forcing eight three-and-outs. Georgia improved to 1-0 on the season, while Tennessee State fell to 0-2.
