The Atlanta Falcons’ special “Saturday Night Lights” open training camp practice at Lanier High School in Sugar Hill, Georgia, was cut short Saturday night after severe weather and lightning moved into the area.
The Falcons began the open practice at 7 p.m. on August 8, giving fans an opportunity to watch the team prepare for the upcoming 2026 NFL season. However, the team was only able to conduct approximately one hour of practice before lightning in the area forced the session to end early.
Fans who came out to Lanier High School were able to watch the Falcons practice before the approaching weather brought the evening to an early close. Despite the shortened event, there was plenty of excitement among the fans about the upcoming 2026 NFL season.
The Falcons will now turn their attention to their first preseason game, scheduled for Friday, August 14, at 7 p.m. Atlanta will host the Denver Broncos at Mercedes-Benz Stadium as the team continues its preparations for the regular season.
While Saturday night’s practice ended earlier than expected, Falcons fans still got an opportunity to see their team on the field and begin building excitement for the 2026 season.
