Lowndes High School Legend Greg Reid Partners With KB Sports Media Group To Launch The G5 Takeover Football Academy
Valdosta, Georgia — Lowndes High School legend and Georgia High School Football Hall of Fame inductee Greg Reid is partnering with KB Sports Media Group to launch the G5 Takeover Football Academy. This five day development experience is designed to mimic the NFL combine experience while preparing young athletes for football, life, and everything that comes with chasing big dreams. The academy will be hosted in Valdosta, Georgia, bringing this experience back to the community where Reid’s football journey began.
The academy is open to athletes nationwide, with a primary focus on students across Georgia and North Florida. Any athlete with the desire to compete, learn, and grow is encouraged to register.
Built From Greg’s Journey
Reid’s story is one filled with talent, expectations, adversity, resilience, and redemption. This academy is born directly from those lived experiences.
A standout at Lowndes High School, Reid was one of the most highly recruited athletes in the country and was rated among the top high school players in Georgia. He went on to play at Florida State, where he became one of the most electrifying returners in college football.

His path did not stop there. Reid:
• Was signed as an undrafted free agent and participated in NFL style evaluations
• Spent time with the St. Louis Rams organization
• Continued his career professionally in arena football and the Canadian football system
• Was recently inducted into the Georgia High School Football Hall of Fame in the Class of 2025
Through all of this, Reid learned that the journey is rarely straight. Success does not only mean making the NFL.
“This is something I have wanted to do for years,” Reid said.
“I have a journey. I have a story. I want to use my experiences to help develop young athletes. I know what it feels like to be highly recruited, lose opportunities, fight for redemption, train for the NFL, sign, get cut, and still find ways to keep playing. I want kids to understand that their value is not tied to one outcome. If the NFL happens, great. If it does not, there are still opportunities to succeed. This academy prepares them for all of it.”
What Athletes Will Experience
The G5 Takeover Football Academy will combine on field performance and off field development.
On Field
• Position drills and technique work
• Speed, agility, and conditioning
• Football IQ and competitive evaluation
• Coaching from former coaches, NFL alumni, college players, and football professionals
Off Field
• Media training
• NIL awareness and brand education
• Professional etiquette and leadership
• Guidance on recruiting, decision making, and life beyond the game
The academy is projected to launch in 2027, with registration opening in early 2026.
