Gladiators See Defensive Duo Promoted After Strong Start to Season

The Atlanta Gladiators announced a pair of roster moves on Saturday as defensemen Chad Nychuk and Jack Matier were both called up to the Milwaukee Admirals, the AHL affiliate of the Nashville Predators.

Nychuk, 24, has been one of the top-performing defensemen in the ECHL since joining Atlanta at the start of the season. The 6’1”, 195-pound blueliner has tallied 10 points (2 goals, 8 assists) through ten games and leads the team with a +8 plus/minus rating. His production ranks him among the top three ECHL defensemen in points and tied for second in assists. Nychuk is also one of only two defensemen in the league to record a shorthanded goal this season.

Matier, 22, a fourth-round draft pick of the Nashville Predators, has made an immediate impact since being assigned to Atlanta on October 23. The 6’6”, 205-pound defenseman has recorded one goal and a +7 rating in eight games with the Gladiators. His lone goal came in overtime during Atlanta’s 2–1 win over Savannah last Saturday.

The recalls mark a well-deserved recognition for both players, who have been key contributors during the Gladiators’ strong early-season stretch.

Atlanta continues its season Saturday night against the Jacksonville Icemen, wrapping up a four-game road trip before returning home next week. Fans can watch the game live on FloHockey or listen on the Gladiators’ YouTube channel, with coverage beginning at 6:40 p.m. and puck drop at 7:00 p.m.
