CARY, N.C. — The Soccer Tournament (TST) delivered an electric atmosphere Monday night at WakeMed Soccer Park as the women’s and men’s $1 million championship matches took center stage, showcasing top talent and star power from across the soccer world.
The US Women’s team, led by former United States national team legends Carli Lloyd, Ali Krieger, and Heather O’Reilly, secured their spot in the women’s final to defend their 2024 championship. Lloyd, making a surprising competitive return after retiring in 2021, has been instrumental this season, tallying two goals in five games—including a decisive game-winner in the quarterfinals.

Their opponents, Bumpy Pitch FC, made history as the first club to have both their men’s and women’s squads reach the championship match. The women’s roster is stacked with collegiate stars from programs such as Florida State and Stanford, bringing a youthful and skilled squad to the tournament’s biggest stage.

The men’s final followed with Bumpy Pitch FC’s men’s team, led by Colombian forward Cristian Martinez Borja—currently the top scorer at TST—facing off against Pumas de Alabama, an emerging force in the U.S. amateur soccer scene with players from last year’s champions, La Bombonera.
Both finals were broadcast live on ESPNU and ESPN+, giving fans nationwide a front-row seat to the culmination of TST’s second annual event.
The Soccer Tournament continues to grow as a premier platform for high-stakes, open-application soccer competitions, shining a spotlight on both established stars and rising talent while awarding millions in prize money.
