Urban Pie Bar & Pizzeria Announces Transition Into Women’s Sports Focused Venue in Kirkwood

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ATLANTA, Ga. — Atlanta’s women’s sports scene is continuing to grow as Urban Pie Bar & Pizzeria officially announces its transition into Urban Pie Sports Bar & Pizzeria, a women’s sports focused sports bar and pizzeria in the heart of Kirkwood.

For nearly two decades, Urban Pie has served the Atlanta community from its location at 2012A Hosea L. Williams Drive NE, Atlanta, GA 30317. Now, owner Lisa Curtis is ushering in a new era for the beloved neighborhood staple by creating a space where women’s sports are not just included, but prioritized.

While fans will still be able to catch Falcons, Hawks, Braves and other major sporting events, Urban Pie Sports Bar & Pizzeria is being intentionally designed as a home for women’s sports fans. From the WNBA to women’s soccer, volleyball, softball and more, games that are often difficult to find on television in traditional sports bars will now have a dedicated home in Kirkwood.

Curtis’ journey with Urban Pie has been both unconventional and resilient. Previously featured on “Bar Rescue,” the restaurant faced significant challenges during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. Rather than stepping away, Curtis chose to evolve.

In addition to refreshing menu offerings and reimagining the overall experience, Curtis partnered with a collective of women working across sports marketing, communications and branding to help curate the transition into a women’s sports centered destination.

“This is about creating a space where women’s sports are visible, celebrated and easy to access,” said Lisa Curtis. “Women deserve a place where they can come together, feel comfortable, watch the games they care about and build community around sports.”

The official relaunch and unveiling of the Urban Pie Sports Bar & Pizzeria name will take place on June 2 at the Kirkwood location.

The transition will also include several new menu additions and sports themed specialty drinks. Upcoming featured items include the “Atlanta Dream Girl” cocktail and the “Angel Dream Pie,” along with expanded food offerings such as burgers and additional fan friendly menu items.

Urban Pie Sports Bar & Pizzeria hopes to become more than just a restaurant. The vision is to create a community centered environment where women’s sports fans feel represented and welcomed while continuing to serve longtime customers and sports fans across Atlanta.
