The Atlanta Gladiators will move forward with a change behind the bench after Assistant Coach Zach Vinnell announced his departure from the organization to pursue a new opportunity.
Vinnell joined the Gladiators ahead of the 2025–26 season and quickly became part of a coaching staff that helped reshape the direction of the franchise. Working alongside Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Matt Ginn, the Gladiators finished the season with a 44-23-4-1 record, securing third place in the South Division and earning the team’s first Kelly Cup Playoff appearance since 2022.
The season also marked Atlanta’s best record since the 2007–08 campaign, signaling a major step forward for an organization looking to reestablish itself as a contender in the ECHL.
In a statement released by the team, Vinnell reflected on both the success of the season and the relationships built throughout the year.
“I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone in the organization and all of the fans who made my time this season so memorable,” Vinnell said. “I’ll forever cherish this year, not only because of the success we had on the ice, but more importantly because of the incredible group of players who showed up every day and gave their full commitment to us as a staff and to each other.”
Vinnell also shared appreciation for the city and organization that helped shape this chapter of his coaching career.
“Atlanta will always play an instrumental role in my life and career. Emily and I can’t thank you enough for the experience,” he said. “The best is still ahead for this organization, and I truly believe great things are coming.”
Ginn praised Vinnell’s impact on the franchise during his lone season with the club.
“It was a pleasure getting to work with Vinny this season,” Ginn said. “He played a big role in the success we achieved as a team this year and in helping elevate our standards and expectations as an organization. I wish him the best in his new role moving forward.”
The Gladiators also thanked Vinnell for his contributions on and off the ice as the organization begins preparations for the 2026–27 season.
